Commonly Asked Questions

Smiling Lady

Dr. Wolff has provided answers below to some of the most common questions they receive about chiropractic care. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to call our West St. Paul chiropractic office.

Do you accept insurance?

We participate with almost all insurance companies. As a patient at Stoffels Chiropractic we will take care of all the filling and necessary paperwork required by your insurance carrier.

Once I start do I have to continue care forever?

The simple answer is no. The frequency and overall duration of care for each patient is different because no condition or person is the same. Our goal is to correct whatever might be ailing somebody with adjustments and exercises so that the problem resolves and ultimately the patients feel better. We do this using specific spinal adjustments which aim at changing the position of these vertebrae into proper alignment. Aligning vertebrae can take multiple adjustments due to the tight muscles and ligaments in the same area. Over the course of treatment the vertebrae will stabilize and remain in alignment.

What’s wrong with me and can you help?

When we see a new patient at Stoffels Chiropractic, we want to figure out exactly what is going on and if it is actually a chiropractic problem. Once we determine that it is something that we can help you with, we take the patient through an exam to determine what exactly is causing the symptoms. Once the origin of the patient’s problem is located we explain what type and how much treatment will be required for the patient.

Do I have a slipped disc?

Technically a disc can’t slip. The intervertebral disc is a pad of cartilage located between spinal bones. It has an outer fibrous layer that contains the softer jelly-like material in the center. This disc allows the spine to absorb pressure and aids in normal range of motion of the entire spine. The disc is attached to the vertebrae above and below preventing it to slip. However through trauma or injury the disc material can break down allowing it to bulge or in some cases herniate cause irritation to the adjacent nerves and spinal cord resulting in pain in the back and or legs and arms.
